Azo Dye Safety Guidelines

Products made from recycled fibers prior to January 1, 2005, can still be sold in the EU market if they contain less than 70 ppm of harmful aromatic amines. All relevant products must be tested for azo dyes and their aromatic amines. A single material can be tested for 24 types of azo dyes, and if any are detected over the limit of 30 ppm, the product is deemed substandard.
